Using the Skill Key Platform

  • How long does it take to set up my account?

    Your Skill Key account will be activated within two business days of receiving payment for your subscription. When the account is live, your designated Client Administrator and Support Contact will be notified via email. The Client Administrator will receive detailed instructions on how to customize your account (as desired) and will receive a custom URL that can be forwarded to learners. Learners can access the course immediately.

  • Can my organization set up our account so that certain groups of employees are assigned certain videos?

    If you decide to assign select courses for certain groups within the organization, we will work with you to set up different accounts for different groups. Your Client Administrator will be able to easily track the activity of all “accounts” for which they are responsible.

  • What kind of tech support can I expect from Skill Key?

    Skill Key will provide tech support to a subscribing organization’s designated Support Contact and Client Administrator. We can be reached by phone or email between the hours of 8am and 5pm PT, Monday through Friday (holidays excluded).

Hosting the Courses on Your Own Platform

  • If I choose to host the courses on my organization’s LMS or intranet, how do I know what file format I need?

    Skill Key sends customers who host courses on their own LMS or intranet a SCORM file. This format works for the vast majority of organizations. Should you or your IT department have any concerns about compatibility, we can arrange to send you a test file. In the event that a SCORM file does not prove to be compatible with your system, you can request an alternate digital video file format. (Alternate video files may be subject to an additional charge.)

  • What happens to the courses on my organization’s LMS or intranet if I decide not renew my subscription?

    If your organization chooses not to renew its subscription, you agree that, within 5 business days of the subscription end date, you will confirm in writing that your organization has removed from its intranet and/or LMS any and all programs and files received from Skill Key.

  • Is it possible to change the courses in my subscription if I am hosting on my intranet/LMS?

    Upon renewal of your subscription, you may replace some or all of the courses with different courses at no additional charge, provided you warrant in writing that your organization has removed from its intranet or LMS all files associated with the courses being replaced.

  • What kind of tech support can I expect from Skill Key?

    Skill Key will work with you in advance to ensure that the Skill Key files are compatible with your organization’s system. No other tech support is provided.

Questions Common to Either Platform

  • How do I place an order?

    You can explore all our courses and demo the Skill Key system through www.skillkey.com. You can also seek assistance from a Skill Key representative. Once you have selected your courses, let us know and we will put together a subscription quote for you based on the length of term you need and the number of learners you have. When you’re ready to place the order, just contact us by phone or email.

  • How does the billing work?

    Your 12-month Subscription term begins the day payment is received and runs for subsequent years, provided payment for the current 12-month period has been received. The annual subscription fee will be charged to your credit card and your subscription will then automatically renew unless cancelled by you in writing 30 days prior to renewal date. Skill Key may terminate the subscription if it is unable to renew the subscription based on inaccurate or outdated credit card information. Skill Key may increase the annual subscription fee for a subsequent year, however, you will be notified of the increase at least 45 calendar days prior to renewal date.

  • Can I add courses to my subscription?

    You may add programs to your subscription at any time. If programs are added at the time of renewal, the annual subscription fee for the subsequent year(s) will be modified and your credit card will be charged accordingly. If added during the course of a 12-month subscription, a supplemental pro-rata amount for the additional program(s) for the remainder of the 12-month term will be charged.

  • What is the benefit of buying a DVD copy?

    Many organizations like to have DVD copies of their Skill Key courses on hand in the event that (a) they have learners with a disability or technology issue that prevents them from accessing courses online; (b) they want to have the option of conducting a group viewing session rather than have learners watch a course on their own; and/or (c) they want a back-up copy of their courses in case of technological difficulties.

    You can purchase a DVD copy of any program in your Skill Key subscription. The cost, in most cases, will be $200 per DVD; however, for certain titles the price may run slightly higher. Please call for pricing.

  • What is the benefit of a “Blended Learning Upgrade”?

    The Blended Learning Upgrade provides your organization with comprehensive workshop materials for courses in your subscription. For most courses, this includes a Leader's Guide with a variety of group training activities and participant worksheets along with a PowerPoint presentation that corresponds with the Leader’s Guide. Some courses also include a Participant Workbook.

  • Are the courses closed-captioned?

    At this time, neither the videos streaming on the Skill Key platform nor the SCORM files sent to those who are hosting courses on their own system are closed-captioned. However, we can provide the following: 1) a loaner DVD of any course in your subscription for the life of your subscription; DVDs are closed-captioned, 2) a hard copy video “script” for any course in your subscription.
